Mangalore police arrests 2 Nepali thieves

23.03.2010 : Mangalore police arrested two international thieves with regard
to two separate cases of burglary, said Dr. A S Rao, the superintendent of
police, during a press conference held in his office on March 23, Tuesday.
The arrested are Ramesh Bikas Bhandari alias Ramesh Bhandari and Karan
Khadga alias Kuithu of Nepal. Ramesh Bhandari was arrested on March 17 and
Kuithu was arrested on March 22. The two confessed that they were involved
in a number of burglaries. The police have also confiscated jewelry and a
laptop worth Rs 4,403,100 from them.

The inspector of the Mangalore East Police Station headed the special
investigation team that was created to investigate a burglary reported by
Bharath Alva near Padav School, Mangalore. The thieves had escaped with
valuables worth Rs 7 lakh from Mr. Alva’s house. Police investigations into
this burglary led to the arrest of Ramesh Bhandari last week. Under
interrogation, he revealed the names of three of his associates.
On the basis of the information given by him, police nabbed Kuithu near
Kandanady Circle. Kuithu confessed that he was not only involved in the
burglary of Mr. Alva’s house, but had also masterminded the burglary Dr A B
Shetty’s house and had escaped with valuables worth Rs 15 million. He also
revealed the names of seven people in his gang, most of whom were also
Nepalese.
The SP told journalists that Kuithu had migrated to India many years ago and
was living in Thokkottu for the past 10 years. He had also married Sita and
received a vote ID by using fake documents.
V Niranjan Aras, the inspector of Mangalore East Police; Raghav Padil; and
many others conducted the investigation under the guidance of IGP Gopal
Hosur, SP Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, and Additional SP Ramesh.
