Central Excise Day Celebrated in the City

24.02.10 : The Central Excise and Service Tax Department of Mangalore celebrated Central Excise Day at Bejai Church Hall, Mangalore, on Feb 24, Wednesday.

After inaugurating the event by lighting a lamp, Professor Emeritus of the department of ophthalmology of KMC Mangalore Dr. C R Kamath said that saving for one’s old age and pursuing hobbies to keep oneself young and healthy is of great importance.

M Ajith Kumar IRS, the commissioner of Central Excise, Mangalore, presided over the programme. Arvind Singh IRS, the commissioner of Central Excise (Appeals), Mangalore; Sri L K Gupta, the finance director of MRPL Mangalore; Srinivas Kamath, the president of Kanara Chamber Mangalore; Gujjadi Prabhakar Nayak, the president of Udupi District Chamber of Commerce were present during the occasion.

During the programme, certificates and mementoes were conferred on M/s Shainy Constructions for proprietary firm, M/s Bharath Builders for partnership firm, M/S Syndicate Bank of Udupi for public sector undertakings, and M/S Mannum Intergraphics Pvt. Ltd. Mangalore for corporate houses, for paying the highest amount of service tax during the year 2009. M/s Manipal Media Press Ltd. Udupi and Kanara Wood and Plywood Industries Ltd. Mangalore also received certificates and mementoes for paying central excise.

The officers of the Central Excise and Service Tax Department of Mangalore were also felicitated during this event.
