Illegal Gas Re-filling racket busted: 81cyclinders seized

24.04.10 Mangalore : In a house raid conducted by the Deputy Director of Food and Civil Supplies department, Vrishabh Rajendra, under the direct guidance of DC/Magistrate, V. Ponnuraj in Mangalore, 81 cylinders were seized from a gang of racketeers who were illegally re-filling such cylinders earlier. The raid took place this morning (April 24) at the back of Kandathpalli mosque, near Sujirkars Tiles Factory on the edge of the port city.

There were 62 big and 19 small cylinders meant for gas connections from HP and IOC among the seizures made. Two persons escaped with some documents during the raids.

Ramakrishnappa of Bunder Police and his staff conducted the raids. They found that 43 gas cylinders were filled up while the other cylinders were empty. A Criminal case has been registered at the Bunder Police Station against the racketeers.
