Diesel theft from petro net pipe line, 13 arrested

25.02.10 : The special Squad lead by Prakash, Superintendent of police
Kankanady police station, has succeeded in arresting the culprits for
drilling of Mangalore - Bangalore diesel pipeline, on February 25. The
department has also seized all the equipments used for stealing the diesel,
D.K. S.P. Subramaneshawara Rao. said in a press conference.

The accused were identified as Roshan Kuvello (39), Marknova Kuvello (43),
Lavanith Dominique (27) Roki Pharao (40), Balakrishna S (30), Dolfi D’souza
(40), Diana Crasta (30), Abdul Sattar (38), Ashok (37), Brijesh (32), Haidar
(41), Sudheer Kumar (34) and Norbert Desa (47), who were engaged in drilling
the pipe line at Are Halli of Hassan, Gowdera halli of Moodigere, Vamapadav
of Bantwal.
The complaint in this regard has been lodged at Alur of Hassan district,
Gonibeedu of Chikmangalore district. But all the culprits involved in this
activity, had been absconded, said the police.
Previously, Roshan Kuvello, one of the key accused in the drilling of pipe
line, had been absconded after drilling a pipe line that transports NAFTA
from the Indian Oil Corporation to MCF. The Panambur police had already
filed a complaint thrice, he said.
Recently, they have stolen diesel from Gowdara halli of Moodigere. With the
help of Sudheer Kumar of Hassan, they transported the diesel to a petrol
bunk in Hassan.
Police said that, they have succeeded to seize a tanker, Tata Indica car,
Maruthi Swift car, drilling machine, welding machine, PVC pipes, welding
rod, and 17 mobiles. Altogether the estimated amount of worth of Rs ten lakh
goods has been seized.
Honne Gowda, probationary PSI, staffs of DK police special team Ram Poojari,
Sheenappa , Chandra Shekhar, Girish Bengre, Sunil Kumar, Rajendra Prasad,
David D D’souza, Mohammed Iqbal, Shiva Naik, Bhaskar Kamath George, and Biju
from urban police station were present in the search operation.
