State-level women’s convention builts confidence in Muslim Women

25.02.10 : The state-level Beary Women’s Convention organised by The
Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy was held at Town Hall on Feb 25, Thursday.
Vijayalakshmi Shetty, president of Mangalore Taluk Women’s Federal Union
Inaugurated the event and said that literature is a platform to express
one’s feelings.
Speaking on the occasion, she lauded Anupama, a Kannada magazine that
provides an opportunities for women to display their literary talents. She
added that educating a woman means educating the entire family.
Zohara Nisar Ahmed, founder President of Shrishakti Block Society presided
over the programme and said that the world is a huge university, which
teaches plenty of life lessons. She also said that at present day large
number of Muslim women who are forced to approach police stations and
criminal courts, but regretted the concern over their inability to
communicate with the advocates and police officials.

She also said that a woman who can easily manage a baby in the cradle can
also easily manage the nation.
Bifathima Ahmad Haji, the president of Thumbay Village Women’s Development
Centre; Hildar Rayappan, the founder director of Prajna Counselling Centre;
and Famidha Mulky, lecturer at Vijaya College, Mulky, were the chief guests
of the event.
The compering was done by Shahidha Umar, the sub editor of Anupama monthly,
and Safina Kabir, the social worker. M B Abdul Rehman, the president of
Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, welcomed the gathering.
