Various organizations stage protest against cow slaughter ban

26.02.10 : Various organizations jointly staged a protest against the ban on
cow slaughter in Mangalore on Feb 25, Thursday. The protest also included a
protest march that commenced at Jyothi Circle and ended at the DC office.
Thousands of protestors shouted slogans against the Sangh Parivar and the
state government.

Pattabirama Somayaji, president of Komu Sauharda Vedike said that the Sangh
Parivar is spreading an bad influence on a unified society of Christians,
Dalits, Muslims, and other backward classes. He also said that large section
of the society depends upon cattle for its livelihood, he questioned if the
government is willing to provide them subsidy.
A book, “Gomukha Vyagragalinda Naadannu Rakshisi,” authored by A K Subbayya,
the senior lawyer and religious leader, was released on the occasion. The
author addressed the gathering and said that the peace and prosperity of
Mangalore was being destroyed by the Sangh Parivar and due to this the city
has now become a communal city and people are living in fear.

Pointing out the the various studies conducted by the Planning Commission,
Dadar Commission, Columnist Shiva Sundar, revealed that feeding around 60
percent of the cattle is impossible, since it will be an additional burden
on the farmers, who are already commiting suicide because they cannot feed
their own families.
Anwar Sadath, the district president of Mangalore; Rev Father Martis, the
parish priest of Udyavar; Ali Hassan; Muhammed Kakkinje of Komu Sauharda
Vedike; K L Ashok, the state secretary of Komu Sauharda Vedike; and many
other leaders of various organization participated in the protest.
