Unidentified bodies to be identified based on DNA Reports: Commissioner

24.05.10 Mangalore : The unidentified bodies around 136 bodies have completed out of 158 victims of Mangalore Plane crash, at present 22 bodies are pending and waiting for the DNA test report, said Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh.

He was speaking at the press meet held at Commissioners Office on May 24, Monday. He also said that, the expert’s team from Hyderabad has collected the samples required from families and the dead bodies and returned back to Hyderabad today morning in special flight.

Speaking on the time frame, he said that the department is keeping contact with the DNA experts and they assured to complete the procedure as soon as possible, noticing the problems of victim’s families and friends.

Out of 22 unidentified bodies four bodies are kept in Colaco Hospital mortuary, 4 in Fr Mullars Hospital, 3 in KMC Hospital, 2 in City Hospital, 2 in Tejaswini Hospital, 2 in SCS Hospital and 5 at KS Hegde Hospital. Eight dead bodies belong to Kerala State while 14 to Karnataka State, he added.

The police criminal case has been registered at Bajpe police station and all the properties recovered from body and spot are kept safe in the custody.
