Muniappa in Mangalore on May 25

 

26.05.10 Mangalore : The second Minister of state for Railways (from Kolar) other than Kerala’s E.Ahmed, is KH Muniappa who landed in Mangalore to console the bereaved families of over 150 dead and the 8 injured being treated in local hospitals, under instructions from Sonia Gandhi, UPA chairperson and AICC President, besides MP from Amethi.

Muniappa visited Padukone to meet the sorrowing family of ill fated Air India passenger Arun Kumar Shetty. He spoke to parents and brother of the dead persons, and assured all benefits from the Central Govt. Arun’s brother Kiran, a student, was assured of a job after his studies.

Muniappa exhorted the officials paying interim compensation (Rs.10 Lakhs) and insurance claims to speed up the process.

While consoling Ibrahim at his house on losing 4 relatives in the Bajpe air crash, the minister in Kirimanjeshwar, met the relatives as well. He went to Gujjadi near Gangolli to console a Muslim couple who lost a daughter Neha Parveen.

Several officers accompanied him.
