Sports minister visits Mangalore, inspects Mangala Stadium

27.02.10 : Goolihatti D Shekar, the minister for textiles, sports, and youth services, said that the state government has implemented special schemes, which include training facilities, for the purpose of creating interest in sports among children and to encourage talented youth.

He visited Mangalore on Feb 27, Saturday, to inaugurate the state-level sports training camp and inspected the various indoor and outdoor sports facilities at Mangala Stadium.

Speaking about the importance of sports, the minister urged the young to show interest in sports and encouraged them to participate in various national and international sports events.

He assured that the state government will work with the local MLA to develop the stadium infrastructure and to maintain it so that the children will feel comfortable there.

MLA Yogish Bhat spoke on the occasion and said that sports can brighten up a child’s future; therefore, they must grab the opportunities provided by the state government.
