World Theatre Day observed in city

27.03.10 Mangalore : The World Theatre Day was jointly organized by Karnataka Nataka Academy, Bangalore and Konkani Samskruthika Sangha, Mangalore was held at Ganapathi High School on March 27, Saturday.

Speaking after inaugurating the event, Kasargod Chinna, theatre and film artiste, said that the World Theatre Day is being observed by 28 districts.

He said that, he does not belong to any caste and is proud to be a theatre artiste.

Though lot of people adopt the story and characters from the English novels and translate it in different languages, one must not forget their culture and adopt other culture, he added.

Jaganath, member, Karnataka Nataka Academy welcomed the gathering. Geetha C Kini, president, Konkani Samskruthika Sangha presided over the function.

Ramachandra Baikampady, president, Konkani Samskruthika Sangha, in his inaugural address said that the privatization and modernization of theatre has lost its culture.

Deepali Kambadakone, member, Karnataka Nataka Academy and T G Narasimhamurthy, registrar, Karnataka Nataka Academy were present on the occasion.
