55th Filmfare Awards Amitabh Bachchan won the 'Best Actor'

28.02.10 : Superstar Amitabh Bachchan won the 'Best Actor' award in a leading role (male) for 'Paa' at the 55th Filmfare Awards. Vidya Balan won the 'Best Actor' award in a leading role (female) for the same movie, 'Paa'. Aamir Khan-starred '3 Idiots' bagged six awards.

Amitabh Bachchan was not present to receive the award. He and his family boycotted the 'Filmfare Awards' in the wake of a "false"report published about Aishwarya's pregnancy in Mumbai Mirror. Mumbai Mirror and Filmfare belong to the same publishing group. Vidya Balan accepted the trophy in Amitabh's absence.

The gorgeous Katrina Kaif, who wanted a Filmfare award, was left disappointed again, as Vidya Balan walked away with the top honours.

As expected earlier, '3 Idiots' swept the Filmfare Awards, with six awards - 'Best Film', 'Best Director', 'Best Story', 'Best Screenplay', 'Best Dialogue' and 'Best Supporting Actor'. Rajkumar Hirani won the 'Best Director' awards, while the 'Best Supporting Actor' went to Boman Irani.

Music Maestro AR Rahman won the 'Best Music Director' award for 'Delhi-6'. Amit Trivedi won the 'RD Burman Music Award' for 'Dev D'. The 'Lifetime Achievement Awards' were presented to Shashi Kapoor and Khayyam.
