Army Recruitment or chaos?

28.04.10 Mangalore : The 3-day Army Recruitment for able – bodied young men in the coastal region is heading for distress and SOS signals from the aspirants here at the Mangala Stadium. There was no proper planning even in a matter of national pride and the selection process was thrown into disarray. Several young candidates were put to a lot of hardship, which they did not deserve in the first place for being patriotic.

The schedule of recruitment was a mystery, like the IPL-3 golmal the other day. Thousand of candidates from all over the state crowded the stadium, but only those from D.K., N.K., Udupi and Hassan were considered on the first day, April 27th Tuesday. Such a large response was due to various newspapers in India, which called out to them in a news advertisement. Obviously, those not wanted were like un-invited guests of the Army selectors and were turned away!

Then the local police and media reps began to convince the Army Selection officials to accept the disheartened candidates on the second day. Many boys had gone away by then in sheer frustration. The local Tuluvas, who are fighters, also blamed the Army Selectors responsible for badly organizing the event. - Tut Tut! -
