Excise raids in city net l lakh Rs. worth of Materials

28.04.10 Mangalore : The excise officials on Tuesday night (April 27) seized 1000 litres of rectified sprit illegally stored in a residential area in Puchamogaru village near Moodabidri, after a sudden raid. 25 empty cans, each of 35 litres smelling of spirit were also recovered by them. Two persons, Dinesh and Shivananda Poojary, were detained. The brain behind the black deed was missing. The seized materials were worth a lakh of rupees, according to the officials.

K. Bheemappa, Excise Joint Commissioner and N.M. Hussain, deputy commissioner (Excise) guided the raids and seizures with a team of excise inspectors.
