B. Janardana Poojary, Politician

The live - wire in a short and slender body frame, a lawyer, a former AICC general secretary, the only person in Congress to head KPCC in Bengaluru twice, MP and deputy finance minister 15 years ago, Raja Sabha member in recent years, a bitter enemy of present union Law and Justice Minister M. Veerappa Moily of Karkala & Chikkaballapur, a towering leader among 4 lakh Billava voters, the man who gorgeously created the Kudroli Gokarnanath Temple dedicated to Narayana Guru of nearby Kerala, and a Robin Hood who looted banks in a Loan Festival to help cobblers and bootleggers once upon a time - all this record belongs to one man going bald and growing younger, Bantwal Janardana Poojary, who is a spent force now. A man who did not bother to offer weighty load offerings to Udupi and Dharmasthala festivals of Paryaya and Nadavali respectively, had suddenly decided to send rice, vegetables and coconuts in lorry loads from Kudroli to Ullal Madani Dargah (a tomb), which is next only to Ajmer (Rajasthan) Sufi Dargah in its material wealth on last Thursday evening, from Nehru Maidan, with fanfare and his followers in trail. Poojary did not send non-vegetarian items to the Muslim shrine for poor feeding of worshippers as “Hore –Kanike” which would have suited them. The vegetables and coconuts would have better suited some Hindu temples, but Poojary had other ideas. He was defeated in the last Lok Sabha election on a Congress ticket and the seat went to an unknown BJP worker in Mangalore. DVS Gowda having shifted to Udupi to win; so BJP (Poojary) thought it wise to appease Muslims in Ullal, with a Congress (Muslim) MLA being there, and to tone down Hindu-Muslim hatred in border areas of D.K. district to save Congress. But Poojary is now on the decline, his old party needs to put up long time workers in local elections to Parliament, MCC and GPs.  Got it?

Anil R. Kumble, Cricketer

There are two Kumbles in Bangalore. You guessed it. One is Kumble Sunder Rao, a former MLA and President of Yakshagana Academy, who continues to participate in the quarrels of yaksha themes. The other is a cricketer, with a tall frame of 6ft. 2 inches. And engineer who engineers off  spin balls to get rid of batsman who play too long in test cricket, a former captain of India who raised the stock of his country in world cricket (now India is no.1 in Test cricket in the world with Sehwag as the Wisden Cricketer of  the year. And Dhoni no.1 captain - wicket keeper and batsman in the world). Anil is a gentle-man cricketer, except when he furiously appeals for LBW against a T-20 batsman. In IPL-2, his T-20 team of Bangalore got a Silver medal, a losing finalist position. In IPL-3 just on Saturday at Navi Mumbai, he beat Australian hero Gilchrist at his name and game. Paisa Vasool in his case. He writes a sports column in English daily like Gavaskar and is a highly respected cricketer. He made Kumble, a small town on West coast near Kasaragod, world famous by attaching it to his name. He married a divorcee and has a baby. He has taken part in English county cricket like Tendulkar. He was groomed by Raj Singh Dungarpur another tall bowler (from Rajasthan) of off-spin. The IPL matches, blessed by BCCI, brought ARK from retirement back to crowded cricket like it did Adam Gichirist of Australia to India and South Africa. Anil is the third world class bowler, first in India, to capture over 500 wickets. More strength to his elbows and fingers!
