BJP govt completes 2 years in a bumpy ride

29.05.10 Bangalore : The Yeddyurappa BJP rule in South India, the first BJP
government in Karnataka and South India ever, has now completed 2 years on
Saturday, May 29. The government has overcome internal dissensions and
radical changes in the party position from a minority to a majority rule in
the last 2 years. One minister, lone woman at that, was sacrificed like a
pawn to save the government, and the Speaker (J. Shettar) became a minister,
and a minister (for Power) was catapulted to state party chairmanship before
peace within BJP was restored. Likewise, there was a struggle against
Bellary Reddy brothers over issues of iron/manganese ore exports, inside BJP
and outside at the Central level too. B.S. Yeddyurappa has emerged as the
architect of the saffron rule, despite a bumpy ride on way. The BJP had come
to power on May 30, 2008 and faced a farmer’s angry agitation for supply of
fertilizers within the first ten days of its rule and had to take in 6 rebel
MLAs to run the govt smoothly.
