“Runway Arrester” should be used in Bajpe: B.J. Poojary

29.05.10 Mangalore : DK Congress leader , B.Janardhana Poojary, stated in a press meet today in only that several airports in the world have been using an instrument called “Runway Arrester” to protest planes alighting on a runway, from getting into a tragic accident which has a table top runway.

Poojary wanted the Bajpe runway to be extended by about 2000 feet from its present length of 8000 feet. But some people say that they do not want an airport here, or a runway either. Suppose one of them goes to a HC or SC, and the airport is closed by their efforts, Mangalore will lose heavy investments, as in MSEZ, or ONGC/MRPL expansions.

He referred to compensation being offered by Air India to the family of the dead persons in the recent air crash and stated that all valid documents should be presented for such claims and relief measures should be handed in a quick manner, he added, to benefit the bereaved
