Tendulkar in social service

29.05.10 : Sachin Tendulkar is perhaps the greatest batsman in cricket history with his capacity to set up new records. He is also good at social service, by caring for the education of children, poor or paralyzed. Recently, he sent out a call for financial help to children suffering from cancer, through a Twitter page. The public response was overwhelming, as Dr. P. Jagannath, Convenor of the project “struggle against cancer among children”. He had already collected Rs 40 to 50 Lakhs by public appeals, but when Tendulkar joined him in a call, within a few days, Dr. Jagannath was able to collect Rs. 1.25 crores. It is a tribute to Tendulkar’s merit in social service, the doctor attending cancerous children stated. Tendulkar also thanked the donors for a good cause. Apart from Income tax in crores, Sachin helps several organisations looking after the disabled such as deaf and dumb people.
