Gang of foreign natls held, Italian gold ornaments seized

30.03.10  : A gang of four foreign nationals were nabbed and stolen Italian model gold jewelleries worth Rupees 1.5 crore were recovered by the City Central Crime Branch (CCB) Bangalore sleuths at Kolva Beach in Goa .

The ornaments were stolen on March 22 last from a room of Pride Hotel in the city where three jewellers from Jaipur, who had brought the ornaments for display in Exhibition, were staying.


City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidri, in a release here today, said the jewellers had gone for dinner when the culprits entered the room by breaking open the doors and decamped with the booty.
One of the persons belonging to the gang, which was suspected to have committed the offence, was seen in the hotel CCTV entering the hotel.

The jewellers from Jaipur were very much concerned about the theft not only because of the huge value of the ornaments stolen but also because the Italian model jewellery introduced by them for the first time in India. They were very apprehensive that the jewellery designed and developed by them after spending lot of effort and money might be copied by the rival jewellers.
