Rapid Chess
Championship 2010 Stany G A is a sole leader
30.04.10 Mangalore : Karnataka State Open Rapid Chess Championship 2010 is
conducted by South Kanara District Chess Association, was inaugurated by the
Defending State Champion and World Under 10 Champion, Girish A Koushik of
Shimoga by moving a pawn. State Under 9 Chess Girls champion, Swathi Bhat of
Mangalore moved the black pawn. Five of nine rounds tournament have played
today and the remaining four rounds will be played tomorrow. Eighty two
players from different parts of the state are participating in this event.
Girish Koushik of Mysore, Yashas and Stany GA of Shimoga, National A player,
Arvind Shastry of Bnaglore are participating in this tournament. Former
State Champion Stany GA is top seed and National A Player Aravind Shastry is
the second seed of this tournament.
After fifth round, Stany emerged as the sole leader. Girish, Aravind Shastry
and Suraj M of Bangalore are in second position with 4.5 points each. Stany
defeated Yashas of Shimoga in the top board. National A player and former
State Champion Aravind Shastry of Bangalore shared the point with Champion
Girish A Koushik of Mysore.
