A diplomat turned MP called Shashi Tharoor

30.04.10 Mangalore : It would have been better if he had continued as a
writer or a Twitter in blogs but the middle-aged, evergreen youngman called
Shashi Tharoor chose to be an MP.
As he had “worked for 30 years” in UN without blemish, and risen to the
height of under-Secretary General, India sponsored him to the ultimate
civilian post in service, namely UN Secretary General, but there were no
takers. Had he won against Ban Ki-Moon of South Korea, he would have toppled
the UN building in USA to fall into a river nearby, such was his potential;
so obviously, the clever diplomats were afraid of him. He was then recalled,
and given a Congress ticket to contest from, where else, Thirvananthapuram
down South, in Kerala, as he hailed from Palakkad (Palghat) and was a
learned Malayalee. Such people abound in Delhi secretariat and diplomatic
circles in India right from 1947 when they like VKK and Siva Shankar Menon
removed English ties and wore Bush shirts, as closed coats were very
uncomfortable, and made them to sweat it out in the Indian capital, in
endless tea parties and meetings. But this guy was different, and no
scandals in UN, he said.
He entered Parliament only to create wild gossips and write on scandalously
in his blogs. His remarks were picked up by the Press gleefully, and caused
annoyance to S. M. Krishna, his boss who warned him. Then he fell into the
arms of “a woman” called Sunanda Pushkar, operating as NRI business woman in
Arabian Gulf. He was involved in helping a new Kochi IPL franchise, and
collided head-on with another tusker called Lalit Modi, the IPL commissioner
who spilled the beans. Their fist fights ended only their own careers in
External Affairs and IPL! The lesson is not to bring in a woman to enrich
and create Kerala IPL cricket team.
