Two Beary Achievers receives Beary Academy Award

01.04.10 Mangalore : Abdul Hasan Muhammad Maulavi, a preacher cum writer and Ismaeel Ustad, a duff maestro were honoured with Beary Academy Award organised by Beary Sahithya Academy at town hall, Mangalore on Wednesday, March 31.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Baragooru Ramachandrappa, senior Kannada literateur and thinker said that one must safeguard regional interests to protect federal system we adopt as a salient feature of the country.

He also said that academy, which came which was established a year ago is doing a wonderful job and has a great future.

Te awards were presented for their achievement in the field of Beary Language and Beary Folk-art respectively on the occasion.

Krishna J Palemar, the District-in-charge minister felicitated the winners with the cash prize of Rs. 10,001, a certificate and a souvenir.

Stressing on the need of elevating Beary language and culture, he warned that a federal system will not succeed unless the local and regional interests are preserved.

B Chandrahasa Rai, the Registrar of Karnataka Beary Sahithya Academy, welcomed the gathering and gave an introductory speech. M B Abdurrahman, President of the Academy, presided over the meeting.

P Muhammad, a member of the Academy proposed vote of thanks.

Hamza Malar, journalist and writer, compered the programme.

UT Khader, MLA and Prof. BM Ichlangod were among those present.
