Madikeri : Heavy rains have lashed Kodagu district, with Cauvery, Laxmana Thirtha rivers in floods since Tuesday. Talacauvery, the origin of holy Cauvery received pouring rains, and Bhagamandal (6 kms down way) is surrounded by flood waters. 2 feet of water on Madikeri road and 3 feet deep waters on Napoklu road made bus movements and vehicular traffic impossible. Later, the water level at Bhagamandala Sangama came down to allow buses to ply and pilgrims to take bath on steps. A motor boat stood ready to carry passengers moving around the area. The police, divers and swimmers are busy watching the dangerous scene. Harangi reservoir in the district is within 8 feet of highest level of 2859 feet. Excess water is released to rice fields.
