Mangalore : Manikanth Kadri, whose first steps in the field of music were guided by his father Padma Shree Kadri Gopalnath, the internationally acclaimed saxophone player, is now famous in his own rights as a composer of film music.
Born in Mangalore on May 28, 1978, Manikanth studied in St. Lawrence Higher Secondary School in Bondel, passed PUC in St. Aloysius College, and obtained a degree in Gokarnanatheshwara College.
He has composed over 500 jingles for radio and television and has worked on 10 devotional albums. The music he composed for his first Malayalam telefilm “Annum Mazhayayirunnu” won the Kerala State Television Award 2005 for the best music. The same telefilm, which was shown on Amrita TV, won six more awards.
Manikanth, who currently resides in Chennai, learned saxophone and clarinet, but later was attracted toward jazz and fusion music. He also did the background music for an English feature film called “Tantric Journal” for 3-D Max Media, a company which is based in Florida. This film was shown in more than 8 international festivals, including those at Hawaii and San Francisco.
His second movie was the Malayalam art movie “Chandranilekkoru Vazhi.” Manikanth has also worked on Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada movies. Recently, he composed music for the Tulu movie “Devu Poonje” starring Pooja Gandhi and based on the history of Tulunad. He has composed music for more than 25 films, his most recent compositions being for the Kannada films “Malebillu” and “Swayamvara.”

Bangalore : Half Goanese (her mother being Goan) and half  Saraswat (her father Krishna Pandit is stage and film personality), born in Bangalore, Radhika Pandit is a young rising star coming after Ramya, she politely says she is even junior to Rakshita. With Radhika’s departure after marriage to producer H.D Kumaraswamy of JD-S fame, no one could hold the Pandit girl from a bronze medal in the filmstar race. She is neither as beautiful as Radhika K, nor perhaps as talented as Ramya, but no one can stop her from holding the first rank in Kannada cinema in a couple of years hence.
She is carefully nurtured by her parents who accompany her for shooting and dote on her. They have a neat little first floor house in a garden at Maruthinagar. She acts only in Kannada films.
Just out of her teens, R. Pandit is now heroine in a Puneet Rajkumar film, asking Puneet and getting the role. Puneet currently earns a crore of rupees per films like the other hero on demand, Ganesh.

By sticking to Kannada like Puneet, who is also a Mega Model off the screen, Radhika has shown her special faith in Kannada to build a strong career after Prema Chengappa who has retired after a marriage. Her “Krishnan love story” has crossed 100 days’ run in many theatres and she has also bagged two Filmfare awards in 2 years of late. Radhika in an introspective interview stated recently that success is far difficult to hold onto, unless you have the talent in plenty. So she will make it slowly and steadily to the top, like Deepika and Aishwarya.

He has been playing test, ODI and T-20 matches for the last 20 years, and is still there to represent India in any such game. He is a short man just above 5 feet but his reach is that of a world class batsman from India.

He also bowls and has taken a few wickets. He was compared to Donald George Bradman of Australia who liked him, but he excelled and went beyond him in cricket statistics of centuries compiled. The Indian cricketer plays right hand but writes with the left. He was born in April 1973 and entered test cricket in his teens. He is the lone cricketer who made a double century in an ODI game of cricket. He is ranked as “the greatest” by several non Indian cricketers of the world.

Tendulkar is the only cricketer of present generation to be included in Bradman’s eleven. He met Don Bradman before the Australian icon passed away.
He is reaching 50 centuries in test cricket, with 3 needed before he retires. Otherwise, he has already made 50 centuries in the 3 forms of cricket. He is the only cricketer crossing 12,000 runs in test cricket.
He is honoured with Padma Vibhushan by Govt of India, Khel Ratna a ward by Sports Ministry, and given the rank of Group Captain by IAF without aviation practical experience. Sachin is married to a Gujarat doctor, and they have 2 children, a boy and a girl. Among the centuries that he missed while in nineties, his admirers count a dozen! At 37, he is still young and has an impeccable humble character. We wish him many more achievements.
